In Loving Memory of Donald Edward Crafts, September 10, 1941 - March 10, 2024 Donald Edward Crafts, a man of remarkable kindness and unwavering dedication, passed away on March 10, 2024.

Born on September 10, 1941, Donald’s life was a testament to love, generosity & profound devotion to his family. Donald’s journey began in Savannah, Georgia where he spent his childhood & attended Savannah High School. His academic excellence & passion for learning earned him a full scholarship to Emory University, where he further distinguished himself by receiving a prestigious Woodrow Wilson scholarship for his graduate studies. Donald went on to earn a Master’s degree from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University.

Embarking on a career in the Foreign Service of the U.S., Donald lived across Europe for eight years, immersing himself in diverse cultures & forging lifelong friendships. In 1976, he moved to the Washington DC area to serve his country with dedication & distinction at the U.S. Treasury Department as an international economist.

In 1964, Donald married Diane Barnes & they were together until her passing in 2016. They were blessed with two children, Mark & Bridget. Though Mark’s untimely passing in May 1999 brought profound sorrow, Donald’s steadfast love & support remained a source of strength for his family. Bridget, along with her husband Adam & their children Jackson & Charles Cunningham, were the lights of Donald’s life, bringing him great joy & pride.

Donald is also survived by his beloved siblings, Ruthie [Stan] Nurnberger & Everett [Glenda] Crafts, & many nephews & nieces who were all cherished members of his family circle. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Ruth & Everett Crafts; wife, Diane Crafts & son, Mark Crafts.

Donald will be remembered as a loving & loyal father, father-in-law, son, husband, brother, uncle, & grandparent. His warm heart touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion & endless dedication to his family.

In Donald Crafts, we have lost not only a remarkable individual but also a shining example of the best that humanity has to offer. Donald, you were truly one of a kind & you will be missed more than words can express.

Services will be held at The Lutheran Church of the Ascension at 120 Bull St, Savannah, GA at noon on Saturday, May 11, followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation (www.parkinson.org).
